Senior Underwriter - Finance

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join our client’s finance team, evaluating financing applications for small and medium‑sized businesses. The role focuses on assessing credit risk, reviewing financial documentation, and making funding recommendations for a fast‑growing fintech lender.

Key responsibilities

• Review and evaluate SMB financing applications and supporting documentation.
• Analyze business bank statements, cash flow, revenue trends, existing debt obligations and overall financial health.
• Examine credit reports and third‑party data sources as part of the underwriting process.
• Assess repayment capacity, creditworthiness and overall transaction risk.
• Identify inconsistencies, potential fraud indicators, unusual transaction patterns and other risk factors requiring further review.
• Prepare underwriting recommendations and communicate decisions to internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience underwriting SMB or commercial financing products in the U.S. market.
• Background in fintech, alternative lending, merchant cash advance, or commercial lending.
• Strong analytical judgment, meticulous attention to detail and ability to synthesize data from multiple sources.
• Senior‑level expertise with a track record of independent decision‑making.
