Investment Analyst – Financial Institutions Group (LAC)

About the role

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is seeking an Investment Analyst to join its Financial Institutions Group (FIG) covering Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. The analyst will support investment officers in sourcing, structuring and monitoring a portfolio of loans, quasi‑equity and equity investments across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain financial analysis and valuation models for prospective and existing investments.
• Support the structuring of new investments and prepare related documentation.
• Analyze historical and projected financial statements and produce periodic portfolio reports.
• Conduct industry and market research to inform business development efforts.
• Monitor operational and financial performance of client companies to assess risk and recommend portfolio actions.
• Establish and maintain quality client relationships to generate new business opportunities.
• Participate in investment negotiations and liaise with colleagues across departments and regions.
• Support departmental initiatives that improve reporting, monitoring and knowledge management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in finance.
• 2‑4 years of experience in finance, banking, portfolio management or consulting, preferably with a major financial institution or investment bank.
• Strong knowledge of financial markets, especially in Latin America.
• Excellent analytical, numerical and conceptual skills in corporate finance and economics.
• Commitment to economic development and interest in development finance.
• Ability to work effectively in multicultural teams and across boundaries.
• Strong client‑service orientation and excellent presentation skills.
• Fluent verbal and written communication in English and Spanish.
