About the role

The Senior Cost Accounting Specialist supports the Senior Finance Supervisor in reducing manufacturing variances and optimizing costs at Cardinal Health Dominican Republic. The role involves detailed analysis of material usage, price variances, and scrap, as well as coordination of inventory audits and financial close activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare efficiency, scrap, Material Usage Variance (MUV) and Purchase Price Variance (PPV) reports.
• Review daily manufacturing work orders and generate variance reports.
• Conduct cycle‑count audits and maintain related statistics.
• Support the Finance department during the monthly financial close, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Coordinate planning and execution of the annual physical inventory.
• Communicate actual departmental expenses against budget and analyze expense variances.
• Monitor and report scrap material, proposing action plans to improve process controls.
• Analyze cost‑variance trends to aid management decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to prepare and interpret variance reports and financial statements.
• Experience supporting month‑end close processes and inventory audits.
• Strong analytical skills to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
