Supervisor, Production I

About the role

The Supervisor, Production I leads a team of skilled and semi‑skilled associates in production, maintenance and warehousing activities for STERIS. This entry‑level leadership position focuses on safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives while fostering a positive employee‑relations environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and sustain a shop‑floor culture that meets SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) goals through standard work, waste elimination and continuous improvement.
• Lead daily SQDC board meetings, train employees, monitor KPIs and ensure a safe working environment.
• Act as first point of contact for safety, quality, delivery and cost issues, driving timely resolution and counter‑measures.
• Participate in Lean Business System activities such as Kaizen events, IDEaS generation, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), OTOG training and facility Lean committees.
• Drive employee engagement, address concerns, apply company policies and manage performance, including union or works‑council contexts.
• Support recruitment, interviewing and staffing to meet operational objectives and provide coaching for skill development.
• Coordinate shift transitions with Quality, HR, Planning, Maintenance and other partners.
• Assist with customer quality audits and internal OTOG initiatives.

Required profile

• Understanding of collective bargaining agreements and plant rules in unionized environments.
