Infield Mentor Trainer (Teacher Trainer) - Remote

About the role

The Church is seeking an Infield Mentor Trainer (Teacher Trainer) to support its mission work in the Dominican Republic, working remotely. Teacher Trainers are lead support-level individual contributors who help in-residence missionaries receive effective training by leading teachers, running individual and group trainings and coaching teacher performance. They oversee the work of 10-15 teachers and report to the manager of the Training Department.

Key responsibilities

• Train and provide ongoing evaluation and development of teachers and missionaries (75% of time)
• Lead weekly meetings, give individual coaching and in-service training, and provide teachers with materials and policy information
• Observe and evaluate teachers and missionaries, and facilitate their improvement
• Assist the Manager of Training in training new teachers before they start in the classroom
• Ensure teachers understand and teach the approved MTC curriculum, and lead updates or new curriculum
• Act as a classroom teacher when needed and advocate for missionary well-being (10% of time)
• Handle day-to-day supervisory matters, recommend teacher merit increases, and coordinate with other Lead Teachers (5% of time)
• Report missionary and teacher progress to the Manager of Training, assist in hiring, training meetings and resource coordination, and may help assess proficiency levels

Required profile

• 6 months of experience as an MTC teacher
• Returned missionary with missionary service experience
• Fluent in a non-native language (except for English or ESL area assignments)
• Solid understanding of Preach My Gospel and MTC training principles
• Preferred: 1 year of experience teaching, training or tutoring
