Head of Core Engineering

About the role

We are looking for a strategic, people‑focused Head of Core Engineering to lead a large‑scale organisation that builds the platforms, services and engineering foundations powering our data, analytics and AI ecosystem. This senior leadership position oversees both platform engineering that enables software delivery at scale and product engineering teams delivering customer and internal solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a multi‑disciplinary engineering organisation covering platform, infrastructure, backend, frontend and business service delivery.
• Design and evolve an organisational structure that supports growth, scalability and operational efficiency.
• Drive hiring, onboarding, workforce planning, succession management and talent development across engineering disciplines.
• Foster an inclusive, high‑performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Coach engineering managers, technical leads and senior leaders, establishing clear expectations and development plans.
• Own delivery health, capacity and execution, removing risks, bottlenecks and cross‑functional dependencies.
• Define and evolve the engineering operating model, team topology, ownership models and ways of working.
• Partner with senior leaders across data, AI, platform, governance and business functions to align engineering capabilities with strategic goals.

• Strong strategic mindset with the ability to shape organisational design and scale capability.
• Excellent people leadership skills, capable of building high‑performing, inclusive teams.
• Track record of delivering engineering excellence at scale.
