Engineering Manager

About the role

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Dominican Republic at Tropicalia is seeking an Engineering Manager to join the pre‑opening team in Miches. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will lead daily engineering activities, ensure safety and functionality of all building systems, and support the successful opening and ongoing operation of the luxury resort.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Director of Engineering in managing daily engineering team activities and departmental priorities.
• Lead pre‑opening inspections, testing, commissioning, snagging and handover of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and life‑safety systems.
• Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance programs across all property systems.
• Assign, monitor and follow up work orders to ensure timely, safe completion.
• Recruit, train, schedule, coach and evaluate engineering staff, fostering teamwork and continuous development.
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers and service providers, ensuring compliance with contracts, safety standards and regulations.

Required profile

• Degree, technical diploma or professional certification in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Industrial Engineering, Facilities Management or related field.
• 3‑5 years progressive engineering or facilities‑management experience, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort.
• Previous supervisory or management experience with a proven ability to lead a technical team.
• Proficiency in Spanish (required) and working knowledge of English (preferred).

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and life‑safety systems.
• Experience with preventive‑maintenance and work‑order management programs.
• Ability to conduct inspections, troubleshoot equipment failures and respond to emergencies.
