Data Governance Engineer

About the role

Lumenalta is looking for an experienced Data Governance Engineer to design and implement enterprise‑grade governance across a modern, multi‑platform data ecosystem. This fully remote position supports Latin America candidates and works closely with legal, compliance, and security teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy governance frameworks using Databricks Unity Catalog, covering metadata management, data classification, and policy enforcement.
• Integrate Snowflake Horizon catalog and the Elation platform into a unified governance model.
• Configure and maintain role‑based access control (RBAC) across datasets, schemas, and compute resources.
• Implement row‑level and column‑level security, as well as PII masking and data anonymization workflows.
• Define and sustain end‑to‑end data lineage tracking for visibility into data origins and transformations.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and security teams to align practices with GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, and other regulatory frameworks.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of experience in data governance, data engineering, or data platform roles with a focus on access control and compliance.
• Hands‑on experience configuring Databricks Unity Catalog for enterprise governance.
• Familiarity with Snowflake Horizon and ability to align policies across Snowflake and Databricks.
• Experience integrating governance across heterogeneous platforms, including custom or standalone systems.
• Strong understanding of RBAC, row‑level and column‑level security patterns.
• Knowledge of PII handling, data masking techniques, and compliance frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, or SOC 2.
