Accounting Officer – Reconciliation & Item Exception

About the role

The Accounting Officer – Reconciliation & Item Exception will join Scotiabank’s Operations & Corporate Services team. The role focuses on reconciliation, item and exception processing, garnishments and project support while ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Champion a customer‑focused culture by maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of processes, systems and internal training.
• Deliver best‑in‑class service within SLA commitments, overcome obstacles and prioritize work to meet client expectations.
• Efficiently complete daily activities to support branch operations and promptly recognize and escalate trends, problems or improvement opportunities.
• Assist with unplanned activities, seek information to resolve underlying customer needs and provide feedback on tools and processes.
• Prioritize and monitor workload, recommend changes to improve effectiveness and adhere to business controls, operational risk, regulatory compliance, AML/ATF and privacy frameworks.
• Support department objectives, participate in coaching, maintain open communication with management and contribute to an inclusive team environment.
