Account Specialist – Commission Reconciliation

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Account Specialist to manage the end‑to‑end commission reconciliation process for our insurance brokerage. You will act as the primary gatekeeper, ensuring brokers are paid accurately and on time while keeping the agency’s books clean and balanced.

Key responsibilities

• Audit carrier statements and reconcile them against internal sales records to verify commission amounts.
• Calculate and process split‑commissions and bonuses for internal and independent brokers, resolving any discrepancies.
• Maintain the general ledger, perform bank reconciliations, and manage accounts receivable/payable.
• Serve as the main point of contact for broker payment inquiries and investigate missing commissions with carriers.
• Prepare monthly revenue reports and provide insights on sales trends and brokerage performance.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in accounting, commission analysis, or a similar financial role.
• Strong attention to detail with a “hawk‑eye” for even the smallest discrepancies.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex payment structures clearly.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or industry‑specific AMS like Applied Epic or AMS360.
