Volunteer and Education Coordinator (Santo Domingo)

About the role

The Volunteer and Education Coordinator supports Op Smile’s mission by managing all volunteer and education initiatives in the Dominican Republic. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with program leaders, this onsite role ensures volunteers are recruited, trained, and supported while educational programs run smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit medical, non‑medical and student volunteers for various foundation activities.
• Oversee the full volunteer lifecycle: selection, onboarding, induction, participation, evaluation and recognition.
• Develop and maintain standard procedures, policies and resources for volunteers.
• Create training tools, checklists and support materials for volunteer staff.
• Maintain and update the volunteer management system and related documentation.
• Ensure all medical and travel documents are prepared before volunteers travel abroad.
• Track and report volunteer activities, expenses, media interactions and fundraising events.
• Coordinate the planning, execution and follow‑up of educational programs and maintain an updated education database.
• Contribute relevant data to monthly foundation reports.

Required profile

• Proven experience in volunteer coordination or similar non‑profit roles.
• Strong organizational and logistical skills to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments, including patient and center coordinators.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on accurate documentation and reporting.
