Upper School Math Teacher

About the role

Saint George School, a British international school in the Dominican Republic offering IGCSE and IB programmes, is hiring an Upper School Math Teacher. The school serves a multicultural community of more than 49 nationalities and aims to prepare students for higher education and global careers. The teacher reports to the Upper School Principal and works with the Curriculum Coordinator, instructional coaches and content specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging, student-centered math lessons aligned with Cambridge, IB and other curriculum standards, using inquiry-based and active learning strategies.
• Differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including ELLs and students with accommodations, and use technology-enhanced learning.
• Implement IGCSE and IB curricula, develop interdisciplinary units and foster academic discourse and independent learning.
• Create assessments aligned with learning goals and academic standards, guide students in self-assessment and reflection, and use assessment data to adjust instruction and provide targeted interventions.
• Mentor students through academic advising, university counseling and extended essay/thesis guidance.
• Take part in professional development, coaching cycles, peer observations, vertical alignment meetings and PLCs, and mentor colleagues.
• Contribute to co-curricular programmes, student enrichment activities and school community events.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Secondary Education or a subject-specific field.
• Experience teaching IGCSE, IB or international curricula (preferred).
• Minimum 3-5 years of teaching experience in an international, bilingual or accredited school setting.
• Familiarity with standards-based evaluation (preferred).
• Proficiency in English; Spanish is an advantage.
