Substitute Teacher

About the role

Cathedral Community School is looking for a full‑time Substitute Teacher to work on‑site in Distrito Nacional, Dominican Republic. The successful candidate will deliver pre‑planned lessons, maintain classroom routines and support student learning whenever regular teachers are absent.

Key responsibilities

• Implement existing lesson plans and ensure alignment with curriculum standards.
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Communicate student progress and any classroom concerns to school leadership.
• Follow school policies and procedures while collaborating with staff to ensure continuity of instruction.
• Adapt to different grade levels or subject areas as needed, demonstrating flexibility and strong organizational skills.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in education and classroom teaching, with experience across multiple grade levels or subjects.
• Ability to follow and execute lesson plans while maintaining curriculum alignment.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging students, collaborating with colleagues, and interacting with families.
• Experience in mentoring or guiding learners in an instructional setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred; teaching certifications or licenses are an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to manage diverse learning needs and uphold a safe, inclusive environment.
• Strong organizational skills, reliability, and calm response to changing situations.
• Proficiency in English; additional language skills are beneficial.
