Middle & High School Choral Assistant

About the role

The Choral Assistant supports the Choral Director, students, and the broader choral program at The Carol Morgan School. Working with grades 6‑12, the assistant helps create an organized, engaging environment where students develop vocal technique, musical knowledge, and performance confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Accompany choirs and soloists on piano during rehearsals, concerts, and school events.
• Assist students in sectional rehearsals, teaching parts under the director’s guidance.
• Support the development of rehearsal techniques through theory, practice, and conducting basics.
• Distribute materials, check attendance, and manage classroom logistics.
• Prepare, file, and photocopy school documents as needed.
• Coordinate community contacts for performances, festivals, and events.
• Assist with public‑relations outreach to local media.
• Run errands on campus and support administrative tasks for concerts and events.
• Help set up, break down, and decorate venues, and request maintenance as required.
• Maintain classroom discipline and perform any other duties assigned by the Choral Director.

Required profile

• Proficiency in English and Spanish; additional languages are a plus.
• Minimum high school diploma; associate or bachelor’s degree in education, music, or performing arts preferred.
• Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to work collaboratively with students and staff.

Required skills

• Piano performance and accompaniment.
• Music theory, score reading, and sight‑singing.
• Knowledge of choral repertoire and vocal section work.
