Minor League Athletic Trainer - Dominican Republic

About the role

The Chicago Cubs are hiring a Minor League Athletic Trainer for the Dominican Republic Academy in Boca Chica, reporting to the Minor League Medical Coordinator. The role supports the Athlete Training strategy across the organization, overseeing player rehabilitation, medical operations and daily medical administration, and leads the delivery of athletic training services in the Minor League system.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain medical records, time-loss and non-time-loss injuries, and athlete availability in the athlete health management system (AHMS) in line with HIPAA
• Analyze injury, illness and prevalence data, identify risk factors and develop individualized injury risk reduction plans
• Monitor athlete workload, readiness and return-to-play status, and communicate with coaches, athletes and the front office
• Manage off-season athletes through remote coaching, individualized programming and plan-do-review processes
• Provide emergency medical care per OSHA standards and oversee pre-participation, spring training, draft and end-of-season physicals
• Coordinate physician appointments, imaging, physical therapy and ongoing injury management
• Ensure compliance with AHMS documentation, emergency action plans, insurance, pharmaceutical management, budgeting and inventory control
• Deliver education to Player Development and Scouting staff and help maintain Athletic Training facilities and equipment

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in a health care field with an emphasis in sports medicine or athletic training
• NATA or BOCC certification
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification
• Experience delivering athletic training services in professional and collegiate sports
• Preferred: Master's degree, bilingual Spanish, rehab techniques certification or specialist skills
