Manager, Area Travel

About the role

The Church seeks a Manager, Area Travel in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to oversee all fleet services in a complex geographical area. The manager leads travel and fleet coordinators and supervisors who arrange corporate, General Authority and missionary travel and manage the vehicle fleet. The role is a key decision-making position responsible for expenditures of millions of dollars in travel costs, and involves managing government regulatory requirements so that travelers maintain legal status.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and train travel supervisors, agents and Area Office personnel, and supervise fleet coordinators, fleet admin assistants and other fleet personnel
• Ensure Church travelers comply with legal requirements and assist in government relations; solve problems with vendors, government agencies and clients
• Oversee quality assurance programs and review actions to improve productivity, quality and service
• Coordinate travel issues with other offices and affiliated companies, and handle emergencies such as stranded travelers and lost luggage
• Train Mission Fleet Coordinators and oversee fleet services, including vehicle purchases, driver certification, maintenance, repairs and sales
• Promote global vehicle contracts and local contracts, and ensure compliance with vehicle registration and legal requirements

Required profile

• BS degree in Finance, Business, Automotive Technology, Travel and Tourism or a related field, with 6 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least two years of supervisory experience
• Exceptional public relations, managerial and organizational skills, and the ability to take responsibility in a Church controllership environment
• Ability to travel as required and to work in a high-stress environment
• Bilingual skills strongly preferred
• Must be an endowed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a current temple recommend
