Lead Firmware Engineer

About the role

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is looking for a Lead Firmware Engineer to design and develop embedded firmware for residential circuit protection devices. The role supports Eaton’s digitalization strategy and involves integrating firmware, documentation, and product testing for power management and distribution solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of safety‑critical firmware for electronic products, ensuring compliance with marketing and customer requirements.
• Manage all project phases from requirements definition through sustaining, including timeline scheduling, cost estimation, and progress tracking.
• Write well‑structured, readable, and fully documented code.
• Conduct formal design and quality reviews of own and peers' work.
• Test firmware to meet quality and reliability goals.
• Train new design engineers on best practices and Eaton processes.
• Improve engineering design and product support processes.
• Lead product certification activities as Eaton’s representative (UL/CSA).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded firmware development.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
• Preferred Master’s degree and experience with safety‑critical electronic devices.
• Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, voltage and current sensing methodologies.
• Familiarity with project tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with Six Sigma processes.

• Embedded firmware development for 32‑bit microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex).
