Junior Data Engineer - ETL (Python & PostgreSQL)

About the role

A company based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Junior Data Engineer to support the development, integration, transformation, validation and maintenance of data workflows across multiple systems and databases. The position is 100% on-site initially and suits an early-career professional with practical technical knowledge, analytical thinking and a willingness to grow through hands-on projects. Full professional English is mandatory.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, execute, maintain and document ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
• Use Python to automate data processing, validation, transformation and integration tasks.
• Work with PostgreSQL and SQL queries for data extraction, loading and database operations, and develop and optimize SQL queries.
• Integrate data from databases, APIs, files and enterprise systems.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve data quality, processing and transformation issues.
• Support reliable and efficient data pipelines, and perform data validation, reconciliation and consistency checks.
• Maintain clear technical documentation of processes, dependencies, transformations and solutions.
• Collaborate with technical teams and communicate fluently with clients in English.

Required profile

• Hands-on experience or strong academic or project exposure to ETL processes.
• Ability to identify data inconsistencies and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Strong technical documentation skills; ability to attend technical meetings, explain solutions and write documentation in English.
• Full professional English proficiency (B2-C1 or higher).
• Availability to work on-site in Santo Domingo.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation and data transformation.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL queries and relational database concepts.
• Understanding of data pipelines, data transformation and system integration.

Nice to have: PostgreSQL query optimization, joins and stored procedures; familiarity with ETL tools or orchestration frameworks; experience integrating REST APIs, JSON and CSV; knowledge of Git/GitHub; exposure to data warehouses and automated pipelines; academic, personal or professional projects showing ETL, Python, PostgreSQL or data integration.
