Frontend / WordPress Developer

About the role

The Frontend / WordPress Developer builds, maintains and improves customer-facing websites, marketing platforms and internal web interfaces. The position is full-time and on-site only in Blue Mall, Santo Domingo, and requires professional English and Spanish. The developer works with WordPress, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, and supports integrations between WordPress, a custom PHP CRM, MySQL databases and AWS services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain responsive WordPress websites and web interfaces, customizing themes, child themes, templates, hooks, filters, shortcodes and plugins.
• Develop or modify PHP functionality for WordPress and the custom CRM, and connect WordPress forms and pages to REST APIs via Amazon API Gateway and Lambda.
• Integrate WordPress, PHP CRM modules, MySQL databases and backend services, and build responsive interfaces with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, Tailwind or similar.
• Troubleshoot plugins, themes, API integrations, PHP and MySQL issues, hosting and deployments, and optimize page speed, Core Web Vitals, caching, SEO, accessibility and cross-browser compatibility.
• Support production sites, work with backend developers, UI/UX, marketing, QA and infrastructure teams, and document integrations, configurations and deployments.
• Use Git, code reviews, CI/CD and secure development practices.

Required profile

• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field; associate degree or technical diploma in software or web development.
• At least 3 years of professional web-development experience, with at least 2 years of hands-on WordPress and PHP experience.
• Experience supporting production systems and resolving real-world incidents.
• Preferred: WordPress integration with a custom PHP CRM, CRM module development, lead capture and marketing workflows, API Gateway and Lambda production experience, authentication systems (SSO, OAuth, JWT), e-commerce, Jira, Agile and Scrum.

Required skills

• WordPress and PHP, including theme, template, hook, filter and shortcode customization, and troubleshooting plugin conflicts and PHP errors.
• HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, responsive design, Bootstrap or Tailwind, and accessibility, SEO and performance.
• MySQL and SQL, including query optimization and troubleshooting slow queries and duplicate records.
• REST APIs, JSON, authentication headers, API keys and tokens; Amazon API Gateway, AWS Lambda and serverless workflows (beneficial but not mandatory).
• Git, GitHub or Bitbucket, CI/CD, and Apache, Nginx, Linux, IIS, cPanel, SSH, SSL, DNS and environment configuration.
