Field Deployment Manager - Smart Building IoT

About the role

Spectra Management, a talent acquisition and management consulting firm, is recruiting a Field Deployment Manager on behalf of its client, a global leader in environmental monitoring devices, intelligent software analytics and built-environment consulting. The role leads the end-to-end lifecycle of physical hardware deployments for commercial buildings, turning signed deals into fully operational, data-reporting installations. It is a hands-on, technical project management position, working remotely with primarily North American business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Pre-sales scoping: partner with Sales during quoting to analyse floor plans and architectural drawings, defining hardware counts and placement for optimal gateway and sensor coverage.
• Post-close onboarding: lead deployment handoffs, confirm data connectivity paths (Cloud vs. Building Management Systems), and secure site access and documentation.
• Logistics and schedule management: coordinate hardware shipping and vendor schedules to meet deployment timelines.
• Installation oversight: oversee installation quality and device positioning, and independently troubleshoot network and IT issues such as firewalls, IP addressing, DHCP/DNS and cabling, escalating only complex cases to Engineering.
• Stakeholder communication: keep Sales, Customer Success, contractors and client IT leadership aligned throughout the deployment.

Required profile

• 3+ years managing physical hardware deployments in occupied commercial environments (IoT, AV, security, low-voltage or network infrastructure); pure SaaS experience is not considered.
• Experience working on-site with low-voltage contractors, general contractors, facilities teams and corporate IT managers.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical field experience.
• Preferred: familiarity with BMS and building automation, smart-building IoT solutions, and LEED/WELL/RESET awareness; multilingual capability.

Required skills

• Reading construction drawings and floor plans to plan hardware layout.
• Network troubleshooting: IP configuration, firewalls, DHCP/DNS, cabling.
• Proactive execution, analytical problem solving and clear communication with technicians, IT directors and executives.
