Controls Engineer

About the role

The Controls Engineer will lead the estimation, programming, commissioning and start‑up of control projects across the region. Working under general supervision, you will collaborate with project teams to design detailed control systems, create graphics, prepare submittals, and provide training for sales and technical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver controls projects on schedule, ensuring quality, commissioning, programming, start‑up, database development, graphical interfaces, testing, documentation and operator training.
• Review project estimates and engineering deliverables for technical accuracy and feasibility.
• Coordinate work plans with Project Managers for start‑up and commissioning activities.
• Support project take‑off, scope definition and cost estimation processes.
• Develop and standardize control routines across the region.
• Provide advanced technical support for control systems and related applications.
• Evaluate products, system designs and cost structures, recommending improvements.
• Plan and develop prototype test programs, analyze test data and generate compliance reports.
• Deliver technical training sessions for sales teams, technicians, clients and project personnel.
• Manage and continuously improve the Miami office controls laboratory, ensuring equipment and software are up‑to‑date and creating technical demonstrations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems or related engineering discipline from an ABET‑accredited institution.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics and instrumentation used in control system development.
• Ability to translate mathematical concepts into control routines and algorithms.
