CISO / VP Data Security – Remote (Fintech & Crypto)

About the role

We are seeking a senior CISO / VP Data Security to lead the entire cybersecurity program for a high‑growth fintech and cryptocurrency client. This remote, high‑visibility position reports directly to leadership and regulators, overseeing policy, risk, and incident response.

Key responsibilities

• Define, implement and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity program aligned with laws, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with operations and engineering to embed security controls into product design and infrastructure.
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulators during audits and ongoing compliance activities.
• Review, approve and annually update cybersecurity policies, procedures and supervisory guidelines.
• Identify, document and remediate asset vulnerabilities, threats and third‑party vendor risks.
• Select, deploy and monitor security controls across communications, physical offices, encryption, and remote customer access.
• Report regularly to executive leadership on program health, risk posture and incident status.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity with full ownership of a security program.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; master’s preferred.
• Extensive experience working with security, DevOps and incident‑response teams in a highly regulated environment.
• Direct experience interacting with regulators and handling compliance audits.
• Experience in consumer‑facing fintech or cryptocurrency businesses is a plus.

• Python, Golang or similar dynamic programming languages.
• Data warehousing and data analysis techniques.
• Use of AI tools for research, reporting and productivity.
