Buyer I – Procurement and Materials Management

About the role

The Buyer I at Jabil is responsible for procuring all components needed for production or prototype builds, ensuring optimal pricing, lead times, quality, and inventory levels.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in MPS loading decisions and manage Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) to guarantee material availability.
• Issue purchase orders according to negotiated pricing and terms, and monitor supplier compliance.
• Optimize order management and maintain master data integrity to balance procurement cost and inventory investment.
• Track and reduce material liabilities by clarifying ownership and leveraging negotiated supplier terms.
• Monitor and improve supplier delivery, quality, and freight costs, and resolve invoice discrepancies with Accounts Payable.
• Provide input for commodity and pricing strategy and give feedback on supplier performance.

Required profile

• Ability to calculate discounts, percentages, ratios and interpret graphs.
• Proficiency with basic algebra, geometry and data analysis.
• Strong presentation skills for communicating with managers and clients.
• Problem‑solving capability to collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
• Competence in using Windows‑based PC applications and Jabil’s software packages.
• Effective written communication and ability to follow simple instructions.
