Design Engineer – 3D Modeling & Drafting

About the role

The Design Engineer will support engineering and product development activities by creating and maintaining 3‑D models, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation. Working within Eaton’s ES AMER PCS division, the role contributes to new product development projects from concept through release.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain engineering drawings using SolidWorks and, when required, AutoCAD.
• Create 3‑D models, assemblies and detailed mechanical drawings for new and existing products.
• Prepare and update engineering documentation following approved design changes.
• Ensure all drawings and documents comply with company drafting standards and maintain revision control in the PLM system.
• Participate in drawing reviews to verify compliance with engineering and quality requirements.
• Support New Product Development projects, providing design recommendations that enhance functionality, manufacturability and project timelines.
• Assist engineering teams with technical documentation and prototype development for design validation.
• Complete design deliverables on schedule and follow safety inspection and EHS training requirements.

Required profile

• Graduated or final‑semester university student in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in engineered drafting using CAD tools.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications, standards and technical requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving and organizational skills.
• Effective teamwork and communication in a cross‑functional environment.
• Conversational to advanced proficiency in English.
