Técnico(a) de Drenaje – Pueblo Viejo

About the role

The Drainage Technician will join Barrick's mining team at the Pueblo Viejo operation. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing drainage systems, pumps, and related infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient water management on site.

Key responsibilities

• Perform thermofusion of HDPE pipe (4"‑36") using TracStar 618 and Rolling 900 machines.
• Repair, maintain and diagnose mechanical failures of motor pumps used in underground drainage.
• Install and uninstall diesel and submersible pumps for water handling in pits, quarries and other mine areas.
• Fabricate special HDPE components (curves, elbows, tees, screens, filters, Y‑suction) for pipe and drainage systems.
• Install geosynthetic materials and HDPE geomembranes for channels, ditches and ponds.
• Set up drainage and pumping infrastructure to support trench excavation, drainage crossings and pump lines.
• Install sewers within the pit according to engineering and topographic designs.
• Maintain pump equipment records and consumable inventory.
• Apply shotcrete for drainage and erosion control following design specifications.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and minimize operational risks.

Required profile

• Complete high school education (preferred).
• Basic understanding of water management, drainage concepts and pump discharge.
• Knowledge of wells and submersible pumps.
• Experience with HDPE pipe thermofusion and Goodwin pumps.
• Basic electrical knowledge.
• Familiarity with flow, pressure and discharge instrumentation.
• Rigger Level 2 certification for load lifting.
• At least one year of experience in a productive or operational environment (preferred).
