Staff Accountant - Crypto & Digital Assets (Remote)

About the role

Veta Virtual is hiring a Staff Accountant for a high-growth fintech and cryptocurrency client. The role sits within the Accounting and Finance team and focuses on cryptocurrency-related transactions, digital asset management and monthly close processes, supporting accurate financial data across a global platform with thousands of kiosks and an OTC trading desk. The position is fully remote and open to candidates based in Latin America or Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain monthly rollforwards for BTC, ETH, LTC and other supported digital assets
• Reconcile wallet balances to blockchain data and internal subledgers, including data cleanup, validation and exception resolution
• Perform fair market value calculations and remeasurements, and support position checks and proof-of-reserves-style reconciliations
• Process and account for crypto donations, rewards and incentives, and record and reconcile hardware wallet activity (Trezor and cold storage)
• Post month-end journal entries, including balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis and variance explanations
• Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules, and help prepare reporting schedules and audit support packages
• Develop spreadsheet reports, verify financial information and reconcile accounts
• Analyze accounting policies and procedures, recommend improvements and contribute to SOP development

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• At least 2 years of accounting experience with journal entries, reconciliations and month-end close
• Working knowledge of cryptocurrency and blockchain fundamentals
• Solid understanding of GAAP and general financial accounting principles
• Excellent organization, attention to detail and written and verbal English
• Must be based in Latin America or Europe

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system is strongly preferred
• Bonus: Alteryx, Tableau or similar data and BI tools; bonus: multi-entity or international accounting exposure
