Public Affairs Specialist

About the role

The Public Affairs Specialist supports the Church’s mission by building strategic relationships with opinion leaders, media, and government officials. This role provides analysis, insight, and communication support to help leaders make informed decisions and enhance the Church’s reputation worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Draft press releases, news articles, feature stories, position papers, speeches and training materials.
• Respond to media inquiries and manage relationships with journalists, broadcasters and online outlets.
• Maintain and update the News Room website and other new‑media platforms.
• Conduct research, evaluate public‑relations initiatives and analyse social, political and economic trends.
• Prepare strategic reports and briefings for senior leaders.
• Assist in producing videos, audio‑visual presentations and training resources for clergy and missionaries.
• Support major events such as conferences, temple open houses and public receptions.
• Contribute to crisis‑management planning and execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, government relations, international relations, political science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of five years of experience in public affairs, communications, media relations, marketing or government relations.
• Strong strategic thinking and ability to bring diverse stakeholders together.
• Understanding of Church organization and priesthood governance.
• Professional demeanor and ability to represent the department at various levels.
