Junior Data Engineer - ETL (Python & PostgreSQL)

About the role

A company is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Junior Data Engineer to support the development, integration, transformation, validation and maintenance of data workflows across multiple systems and databases. The role suits an early-career professional with practical technical knowledge, analytical thinking and a willingness to learn through hands-on projects. It is 100% on-site initially in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and requires full professional English.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, execute, maintain and document ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
• Use Python to automate data processing, validation, transformation and integration tasks.
• Work with PostgreSQL and SQL queries for data extraction, loading and database operations, and develop and optimize SQL queries.
• Integrate data from databases, APIs, files and enterprise systems.
• Identify and resolve data quality, processing and transformation issues, and perform data validation, reconciliation and consistency checks.
• Maintain technical documentation of processes, dependencies, transformations and solutions.
• Collaborate with technical teams and communicate fluently with clients in English.

Required profile

• Hands-on experience or strong academic or project exposure to ETL processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot data integration and quality issues and to document technical processes clearly.
• Strong technical documentation skills and structured problem solving.
• Full professional English (B2-C1 or higher) and availability to work on-site in Santo Domingo.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation and data transformation.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL queries and relational databases.
• Nice to have: PostgreSQL optimization, joins and stored procedures; ETL tools or orchestration frameworks; REST API, JSON and CSV integration; Git/GitHub; data warehouse exposure.
