Finance & Automation Manager

About the role

Sterlington PLLC is seeking a Finance & Automation Manager to own the firm’s day‑to‑day accounting engine while building the tools that accelerate finance processes. This player‑coach position combines hands‑on accounting work with leadership of a small accounting team, reporting to the Finance Transformation Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Own financial statements, month‑end close, cash‑flow monitoring, budgeting and ad‑hoc reporting.
• Manage, coach and develop a team of three accounting professionals, balancing direct involvement with delegation.
• Oversee accounts payable and payroll functions delivered by the team.
• Monitor cash position, forecast outflows and coordinate with banking partners.
• Design, build and ship internal finance tools—including dashboards, automations and web applications—using AI‑assisted coding tools.
• Partner with the Finance Transformation Manager to align accounting operations with strategic decisions.
• Serve as the primary accountability point for accounting as the function scales.

Required profile

• Strong, hands‑on technical accounting experience covering ledgers, close, tax, AP and payroll.
• Proven people‑leadership skills managing a small, distributed team.
• Demonstrated ability to independently develop and deliver finance tools or automations, with a portfolio or code sample.
• Experience with US accounting practices and exposure to US‑based companies.
• Comfortable holding release‑level payment authority and associated controls.
• Fluent written and spoken English, high autonomy, and experience working with global, culturally diverse teams.
