Elementary English Language Arts Teacher

About the role

Our bilingual, internationally oriented school in the Dominican Republic is looking for an innovative Elementary English Language Arts (ELA) teacher. The successful candidate will blend project‑based learning with technology to prepare students for a globalized world.

Key responsibilities

• Teach elementary ELA through project‑based learning, media literacy, and interdisciplinary units.
• Integrate educational technology to enhance instruction, collaboration, assessment, and personalized learning.
• Design rigorous curriculum that develops critical reading, academic writing, argumentation, research, and digital literacy.
• Incorporate global perspectives and contemporary issues into lessons.
• Collaborate with departmental teams to create cohesive, standards‑aligned instructional plans.
• Foster a classroom environment that supports bilingualism, intercultural understanding, and student voice.
• Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in English, Education, ESL, Linguistics, or a related field.
• Experience teaching English at the elementary level.
• Strong proficiency in English; Spanish is a plus.
• Familiarity with international education trends such as global competencies, inquiry‑based learning, and culturally responsive teaching.
• Passion for working in a bilingual, multicultural school environment.
