EDDU Analyst

About the role

Scotiabank is hiring an EDDU Analyst in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The role covers enhanced due diligence and anti-money laundering reporting, working Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with four hours available on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Complete enhanced due diligence activities in line with regulations, policies and procedures, within set timelines.
• Analyze client information, transaction activity and external data to assess client risk levels.
• Review negative news articles, determine relevance and check whether named parties match Scotiabank customers or associates.
• Document findings clearly and concisely and request additional information from the business line, escalating as needed.
• Complete unusual transactions reports (UTR) and submit supporting documents to the country's Financial Investigation Unit (FIU).
• Maintain records and audit trails of due diligence and disposition actions.
• Operate across jurisdictions and take on ad hoc requests such as special AML workstreams, investigations and regulatory requests.

Required profile

• University degree preferably in a business or legal field.
• At least 1 year of experience in the financial industry; compliance, risk management or AML experience is an asset.
• Bilingual English and Spanish (required).
• General knowledge of international AML and banking regulatory standards.
• Ability to work under pressure, with good organization and time management.

Required skills

• Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and internet search engines.
• Good analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to collect, analyze, organize and summarize large amounts of information.
