Data Engineer – Azure SQL & Fabric

About the role

We're hiring a Data Engineer to own the data layer across our product portfolio. This database‑first role involves writing and optimising T‑SQL, designing schemas for new features, and ensuring data pipelines are fast, correct and auditable.

Key responsibilities

• Design, write, and optimise T‑SQL stored procedures for real‑time ingestion, transactional processing, reporting and application data access.
• Own and evolve the schema of large relational databases (100+ tables), including tables, indexes, constraints, TVPs and migration scripts.
• Package and deploy database changes across development, staging and production using SQL Database Projects, SqlPackage/DACPAC and manage schema drift.
• Implement automated data‑integrity and reconciliation checks and continuously monitor data quality.
• Diagnose and resolve query performance issues by analysing execution plans, indexes and query patterns.
• Build and maintain high‑volume data pipelines that move event data from Azure Storage queues to queryable reporting tables.
• Model and expose data in Microsoft Fabric for analytics and Power BI reporting.
• Collaborate with API and frontend engineers on contract changes and support troubleshooting of data‑related issues.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience in a database‑focused engineering role (Data Engineer, Database Developer, etc.).
• Strong expertise in T‑SQL, including stored procedures, CTEs, window functions, temp tables and TVPs.
• Proven ability to optimise queries, read execution plans and design indexes for high‑volume workloads.
• Hands‑on experience with SQL Server or Azure SQL in production environments.
• Experience managing schema changes across multiple environments and using deployment tools such as SqlPackage, DACPAC or SSDT.
• Solid understanding of relational schema design, data integrity constraints and validation techniques.
