Chemistry Teacher

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Chemistry Teacher to join Bavaro Innovation School in La Altagracia, Dominican Republic. The successful candidate will deliver bilingual chemistry instruction to secondary‑level students, integrating the school’s innovative, technology‑driven curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging chemistry lessons aligned with the international curriculum.
• Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate grade records.
• Create and maintain a safe, inclusive laboratory environment and supervise hands‑on experiments.
• Promote environmental awareness and scientific curiosity through classroom activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues, participate in staff meetings and school events.
• Communicate regularly with families or guardians about student performance.
• Contribute to extracurricular and interdisciplinary projects that support holistic student development.

Required profile

• Strong subject‑matter expertise in Chemistry; basic understanding of Physics is a plus.
• Experience in lesson planning and curriculum implementation for secondary‑level students.
• Proven teaching skills, including classroom management and student‑centered instructional strategies.
• Effective communication in English; Spanish proficiency or willingness to learn is highly beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field.
• Prior experience in an international, bilingual, or innovative school setting preferred.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and hands‑on experimental teaching methods.
• Commitment to inclusive, non‑discriminatory practices and fostering global citizenship and environmental awareness.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and engage in continuous professional development.
