Engineering Superintendent – Water Management Project

About the role

The Engineering Superintendent will lead the engineering development of the Pueblo Viejo Integrated Water Management Project, ensuring seamless integration across technical disciplines, internal stakeholders, the EPCM contractor and specialized consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of engineering activities across PFS, Feasibility, FEED and Detailed Engineering stages, defining scope, deliverables, resources, schedule and quality criteria.
• Establish and control the Project Design Basis, integrating water and chemical balances, quality, operating scenarios, P50/P95 conditions, discharge requirements and water reuse needs.
• Integrate technical inputs from EPCM contractor, water‑balance consultants, laboratories and vendors to maintain a single approved technical basis.
• Evaluate and select water‑treatment alternatives (pretreatment, UF/RO, brine, concentrate and sludge management) and coordinate characterization, treatability and pilot programs.
• Review and approve design criteria, mass and water balances, flow diagrams, P&IDs, hydraulic profiles, equipment lists, specifications, control philosophies and engineering calculations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces (civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, environmental, mining, TSF, operations, maintenance and safety) to resolve design gaps.
• Plan and lead design reviews, HAZOP/LOPA, constructability, operability and maintainability reviews, ensuring close‑out of actions.
• Manage EPCM contractor and technical consultants performance, controlling scope, quality, cost, schedule, RFIs, deviations and risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Process, Civil, Hydraulic, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
• Master's degree in Water Treatment, Process Engineering, Project Management or a related field is preferred.

Required skills

• Water‑treatment technology selection (pretreatment, UF/RO, brine, concentrate, sludge management).
• Water and chemical balance modeling (P50/P95, discharge, reuse).
• Design documentation: mass and water balances, flow diagrams, P&IDs, hydraulic profiles, equipment lists, specifications, control philosophies.
• Hazard and operability studies (HAZOP, LOPA) and constructability/operability reviews.
• Integration of multidisciplinary inputs (civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, environmental, mining, TSF, operations).
• Management of EPCM contractors and technical consultants (scope, quality, cost, schedule, RFIs, deviations).
