Technical Superintendent

About the role

The Vessel Technical Superintendent is responsible for the overall technical management of assigned vessels, ensuring compliance with company maintenance standards, planned maintenance systems (PMS), and class requirements. The role involves close coordination with the vessel’s technical crew, budget oversight, and continuous communication with the classification society.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance in line with the company PMS and vessel crew.
• Manage vessels according to the company QMS/SMS system and enforce risk‑management processes for maintenance and repair.
• Raise and handle vessel defects in the PMS, complying with class rules and technical standards.
• Conduct regular vessel inspections and submit lubricating oil samples for analysis per SERTICA schedule.
• Prepare and monitor the technical and consumables budget in cooperation with Technical Management.
• Verify compliance with SOVIQ audits and coordinate training for captains and chief engineers on equipment operation and SERTICA usage.
• Technical approval of RQs in SERTICA and support business activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective processes.

Required profile

• University degree in Naval Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Diesel, or a related field.
• More than 3 years of experience in a similar technical superintendent position.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in Spanish (fluent) and English (advanced preferred).
• Proficiency with MS Office and a solid awareness of safety and diversity standards.

Required skills

• Industrial mechanics, hydraulics, diesel mechanics, fuel systems, lubrication, refrigeration.
• Use of electrical tools such as multimeters, thermal guns, and reading of manometers and thermometers.
• Experience with sounding tanks, surface preparation for painting, and oil analysis.
• Familiarity with the SERTICA maintenance software.
