Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

About the role

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) works closely with the QA team to evaluate, enhance, and expand existing automation frameworks. You will design and maintain automated test scripts from scratch, ensuring high‑quality releases while reducing manual testing effort. The role requires handling proprietary systems and adhering to confidentiality and security policies.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Test Automation Architect to assess and improve current automation frameworks.
• Develop, execute, and maintain automation scripts for UI, API, and database testing.
• Identify high‑ROI test cases and automate them to minimize manual testing.
• Participate as an integral member of an Agile team, working with developers, test engineers, and product managers.
• Create smoke, functional, regression, and integration test suites for front‑end, services, and backend.
• Document and monitor software defects, providing historical analysis of test results.
• Mentor manual QA testers and promote best practices in test automation.
• Support off‑hours and weekend releases when required.

Required profile

• Strong English reading and written communication skills.
• 2+ years of experience in a QA environment with a focus on test automation.
• 2+ years of hands‑on experience with open‑source automation frameworks.
• Associate degree or equivalent is a plus but not mandatory.

• Programming languages: Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Python.
• Object‑Oriented Programming concepts.
• Automation tools: Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, XCUItest, Espresso.
• UI and API test automation.
• SQL query writing and database testing.
• CI/CD pipeline integration and cloud‑based testing environments.
• Robot Framework and Page Object Model design patterns.
