Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

Esperanza International is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to lead the implementation of its internal audit plan. The role provides independent assurance that risk management, control, and governance processes are effective and aligned with the organization’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of the annual audit plan and allocate necessary resources.
• Execute field audit activities, conduct interviews, and gather evidence.
• Document findings, draft audit reports, and present results to the Board for approval.
• Review internal controls and ensure compliance with organizational policies and International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
• Schedule audits, manage timelines, and monitor progress against the approved plan.
• Communicate audit issues with stakeholders and work collaboratively to resolve them.
• Maintain audit scope adequacy, testing quality, and conclusion accuracy.
• Pursue professional development through training, association memberships, and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Professional experience in internal audit, risk management, or related financial oversight.
• Strong understanding of audit standards and governance frameworks.
• Excellent analytical and documentation skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels.

Required skills

• Knowledge of International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
• Proficiency in audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting.
• Familiarity with risk assessment and internal control evaluation.
