Maintenance & Reliability Engineer

About the role

Becton, Dickinson and Company, a global medical technology company, is hiring a Maintenance & Reliability Engineer in its Merengue facility in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic. The role covers preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of equipment, support of maintenance coordinators and follow-up on equipment failures and improvement projects.

Key responsibilities

• Plan preventive maintenance and ensure compliance to avoid unscheduled stops.
• Keep the maintenance management system updated in line with industry regulations.
• Support and monitor coordinators so that preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance is documented according to procedures and safety regulations.
• Evaluate and requisition equipment needed for continuous improvement.
• Ensure procedures align with industry regulations and plan improvement projects to optimize equipment and systems management.
• Follow up investigations, diagnose equipment failures and define corrective actions to fix root causes.
• Support plant projects and perform other complementary duties assigned by leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering (required).
• 2 years of experience handling electrical controls (required).
• Technologist in electricity or electronics or industrial graduate from a recognized institution (required).
• Maintenance and Reliability certification such as CMRP, CRE or an equivalent (preferred).
• Predictive maintenance training (vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound, condition monitoring) preferred.
• Formal training or certification in PLCs, industrial automation, instrumentation, sensors, control systems, BMS or related technologies preferred.

Required skills

• Good computer skills with MS Office and Máximo.
• Solid knowledge of routine preventive maintenance of production equipment, including PLC and automatic access control systems.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation in a medical device environment.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electronic, pneumatic and control systems.
• Ability to work independently, train lower-level technicians and manage suppliers and project stakeholders.
