Information Systems Assistant

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) is hiring a temporary Information Systems Assistant in Santo Domingo, within the Field Technology Section. The post reports to the Chief of Section, P5, or designated officer. UNSOH provides support mainly to the Gang Suppression Force, BINUH, the Haitian National Police and the Haitian Armed Forces, and also delivers technical assistance to the OAS.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for ICT incidents and service requests, log and track them in the enterprise ticketing system, and close them according to SLAs.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating systems, mobile devices and connectivity, and escalate complex incidents.
• Install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices and audiovisual equipment, and support Windows, macOS and enterprise software.
• Administer user accounts, including password resets, access rights and identity verification.
• Support LAN, Wi-Fi, WAN and internet connectivity, and VoIP, satellite and radio communications.
• Maintain ICT asset inventories in Umoja, track equipment through its lifecycle, and record software licenses and warranties.
• Monitor ICT infrastructure, verify backups, support disaster recovery and ensure compliance with UN ICT security policies.
• Prepare technical documentation, user guides and knowledge-base articles, and analyse help-desk trends to recommend improvements.
• Coordinate with external vendors and procurement on repairs, maintenance contracts and equipment purchases.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; the minimum experience requirement is reduced to three years for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher.
• Knowledge of relevant programming languages and basic programming skills, and good technical skills.
• Desirable: an ICT-related university degree and certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco (CCNA), CompTIA A+, Network+ or ITIL Foundation.
