About the role

The Heavy Equipment Workshop Manager is responsible for planning, directing and supervising all workshop operations related to preventive and corrective maintenance of yellow equipment used in mining and construction. The role ensures high standards of quality, efficiency, safety and customer satisfaction while leading the technical team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the entire workshop and technical services for mining and construction equipment.
• Supervise and develop workshop supervisors, technicians, mechanics and other staff.
• Coordinate scheduling and assignment of preventive, corrective maintenance and repair jobs.
• Ensure work complies with technical standards, manufacturer specifications and safety procedures.
• Monitor repair times, productivity and resource utilization.
• Control availability and proper use of tools, specialized equipment, spare parts and materials.
• Collaborate with the parts department to secure necessary components.
• Analyze work orders, costs, timelines and progress, guaranteeing timely closure.
• Supervise field and workshop services when applicable.
• Maintain effective communication with customers throughout diagnosis, repair and delivery.
• Handle service-related complaints, delivering timely and satisfactory solutions.
• Track and improve key performance indicators such as productivity, repair times, equipment availability and customer satisfaction.
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce downtime, operational costs and rework.
• Ensure compliance with industrial safety and occupational health regulations.
• Participate in budgeting and financial control for the service area.
• Promote a culture of service orientation, teamwork, safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading technical teams in a heavy‑equipment maintenance environment.
• Strong knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures for mining and construction machinery.
• Ability to optimize workshop resources, control repair timelines and manage spare‑part availability.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Focus on safety, quality standards and continuous improvement.
