Facilities Management Assistant (UN Support Office)

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) is seeking a Facilities Management Assistant to support the Engineering Section. Based in Santo Domingo, the incumbent will supervise day‑to‑day facilities operations for mission premises, accommodation areas, camps and support facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise facilities management and maintenance activities, including contractor tasking, planning, monitoring and follow‑up.
• Coordinate daily services such as cleaning, pest control, grounds maintenance, space management and minor engineering works.
• Plan, prioritize and oversee repair, renovation, refurbishment and upgrade projects for both permanent and temporary structures.
• Work closely with electrical, HVAC, plumbing, power generation, water‑wastewater and construction teams to resolve facilities issues promptly.
• Prepare proposals for efficient use of office and accommodation spaces, including layout adjustments.
• Manage in‑house maintenance teams and external contractors, assigning workloads and monitoring performance.
• Review and process work orders, service requests and maintenance tasks, ensuring proper allocation.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications and manuals related to facilities work.

Required profile

• Experience supervising facilities or maintenance teams in a multi‑site environment.
• Ability to coordinate with diverse technical units and external contractors.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for tracking work orders and service requests.
• Proficiency in reading technical documents, specifications and drawings.
