Applied AI Engineer (Remote, Santo Domingo)

About the role

Blacksmith Agency is adding an AI automation layer to its operations and is hiring an Applied AI Engineer, working remotely from Santo Domingo. You will work directly with engineering and delivery leadership to turn a documented roadmap of automation workflows into shipped, working systems.

Key responsibilities

• Build agentic workflows using LangChain, LangGraph or equivalent frameworks.
• Integrate with Anthropic and OpenAI APIs, including tool use and function calling.
• Develop internal tools that cut manual hours across the design and development production process.
• Set up automation pipelines connecting WordPress, Figma, Google Workspace and the internal CMS.
• Implement MCP server integrations as part of the broader AI stack.

Required profile

• 2+ years building production software with Python or Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen or similar agent frameworks.
• Proven API integration work with OpenAI or Anthropic (function calling, tool use, streaming).
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and basic cloud deployment.
• English sufficient for async written work with a US-based team.

The position is full-time and remote, open to Latin America and South Africa. Applications are submitted through a short online form; candidates then complete a 6-minute Predictive Index assessment.
