Senior Backend Engineer, NodeJS

About the role

Deel is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build core services for its global payroll and HR platform. You will work in a fast‑growing SaaS environment, collaborating with product, design, frontend, and QA teams to deliver high‑impact features that power millions of workers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with frontend engineers, product managers, designers, and QA to create seamless user experiences.
• Participate in product planning from discovery through deployment, influencing the full software development lifecycle.
• Design, develop, and maintain robust new features and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Continuously improve existing services, optimize performance, and ensure reliability.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs quickly, maintaining a customer‑centric focus.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in backend development with strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle in a SaaS context.
• Experience working with relational databases and writing efficient SQL queries.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in cross‑functional, fast‑paced teams.
• Experience with at least one additional server‑side language is a plus.
