Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

About the role

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) works closely with the QA team and Agile engineering squads to design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions that ensure high‑quality software releases.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and enhance existing automation frameworks in partnership with the Test Automation Architect.
• Design, write, and maintain end‑to‑end regression test scripts for GUI, API, and database layers.
• Identify high‑ROI test cases and automate them to reduce manual testing effort.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Test Engineers, and Product Managers throughout the development lifecycle.
• Develop smoke, functional, regression, and integration test suites and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Document software defects, maintain test result records, and generate historical analysis.
• Mentor manual QA testers on automation best practices.
• Provide off‑hours and weekend support during release cycles.

Required profile

• Associate degree or equivalent (nice to have, not mandatory).
• Strong English reading and written communication skills.
• 2+ years of professional experience in software development and test automation.
• Proficiency in object‑oriented programming.

Required skills

• Programming languages: Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Python.
• Automation frameworks: Selenium, Playwright, Cypress.
• UI and API test automation (2‑3 years experience).
• SQL query writing and database testing.
• Mobile automation tools: Appium, XCUItest, Espresso (exposure).
• CI/CD pipeline integration and cloud‑based testing environments.
• Robot Framework and Page Object Model design patterns.
