Software Development Engineer in Test

About the role

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) works within an Agile engineering team to design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions. The role focuses on expanding test coverage, reducing manual effort, and ensuring high‑quality releases across GUI, API, and database layers.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate existing automation frameworks and collaborate with the Test Automation Architect to build an end‑to‑end regression suite.
• Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for functional, regression, smoke, and integration testing.
• Identify high‑ROI test cases and automate them to minimize manual testing.
• Partner with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and QA teammates throughout the development lifecycle.
• Create and maintain test suites for front‑end UI, API services, and database back‑ends.
• Document software issues, track test results, and generate historical analysis.
• Mentor manual QA testers on automation best practices.
• Provide off‑hours support during release cycles as needed.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or equivalent (optional).
• Strong English reading and written communication skills.
• 2+ years of experience with programming languages such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or Python.
• Solid understanding of Object‑Oriented Programming.
• 2+ years in a QA role with a focus on test automation.
• Hands‑on experience with open‑source automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress).
• Experience automating UI and API tests and writing SQL queries for database testing.
• Familiarity with mobile automation tools like Appium, XCUItest, or Espresso.
• Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines and using cloud‑based testing environments.
• Knowledge of robot framework and page‑object model design patterns.
