Senior Software Engineer (Storage) – Remote

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer specialized in storage to design and implement core database engine components. You will bridge high‑level database semantics with low‑level system performance, ensuring data integrity and high availability in distributed environments.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and optimise storage engines using advanced data structures such as B‑trees and LSM‑trees.
• Implement robust concurrency control mechanisms, including multi‑version concurrency control (MVCC).
• Develop and maintain write‑ahead logging (WAL) and replication protocols to guarantee durability.
• Enhance query optimisation and execution performance for large‑scale datasets.
• Ensure reliability and scalability of database internals through rigorous systems programming.

Required profile

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on systems programming.
• Proven expertise in developing or modifying database engine internals, especially storage engines and query optimisers.
• Deep understanding of low‑level data structures (B‑trees, LSM‑trees) and mechanisms such as MVCC and WAL.
• Advanced proficiency in English.

Required skills

• C, C++ or Rust for high‑performance development.
• Knowledge of B‑trees and LSM‑trees.
• Experience with MVCC, WAL, and concurrency control.
• Strong background in memory management and replication protocols.
• Systems programming and query optimisation.
