Movement Control Assistant

About the role

The Movement Control Assistant supports cargo and passenger movements for the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH). Based in the Office of the Chief Operations and Resource Management in Santo Domingo, the role serves as the focal point at Las Americas International Airport and coordinates with the logistics team in Port‑au‑Prince.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and register cargo movement requests for air and ground transport.
• Assist in developing passenger and cargo load plans and preparing movement orders.
• Coordinate daily operations of administrative and loading staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, security and safety measures.
• Handle dangerous goods in accordance with international Dangerous Goods Regulations.
• Liaise with port, immigration and customs authorities on travel, immigration and customs issues.
• Assist with boarding and deplaning of passengers and crew, including manifest verification, baggage handling and waiver signing.
• Arrange customs clearance documentation when required and inform consignees of deliveries.
• Support planning and execution of military and police contingent movements.

Required profile

• Physical ability to lift and carry cargo as needed.
• Awareness of safety procedures related to aircraft operations and passenger handling.
• Strong attention to detail for documentation and manifest preparation.
• Ability to work under delegated authority and follow instructions from the Associate Administrative Officer.

Required skills

• Knowledge of international Dangerous Goods Regulations.
• Familiarity with customs clearance processes.
