Accountant – Commission Reconciliation & Broker Payments

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented accountant to own the end‑to‑end commission reconciliation process and ensure our insurance brokers receive accurate, timely payments. You will act as the primary gatekeeper for financial integrity across the agency’s books.

Key responsibilities

• Audit and reconcile carrier statements against internal sales records to verify commission amounts.
• Calculate and process split‑commissions and bonuses for internal and independent brokers, resolving any discrepancies.
• Maintain the general ledger, perform bank reconciliations, and manage accounts receivable/payable.
• Serve as the main point of contact for broker payment inquiries and investigate missing commissions with carriers.
• Prepare monthly revenue reports and provide insights into sales trends and brokerage performance.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in accounting, commission analysis, or a similar financial role.
• Exceptional attention to detail, able to spot minute discrepancies in large data sets.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex payment structures clearly to brokers.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage.
• Experience with industry‑specific AMS platforms like Applied Epic or AMS360.
