Protection Caseworker AVR+MHPSS

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Protection Caseworker to support assisted voluntary return (AVR) and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programmes in Santo Domingo. Reporting to the Protection Coordinator, the caseworker will manage protection cases, ensure safe and dignified returns, and provide post‑arrival assistance in line with IOM’s humanitarian standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assess protection needs of migrants and develop individualized case plans.
• Coordinate assisted voluntary return processes, guaranteeing free, prior and informed consent.
• Deliver MHPSS interventions and monitor beneficiaries’ well‑being during return and after arrival.
• Maintain accurate case records, produce regular reports and contribute to monitoring & evaluation activities.
• Collaborate with government, UN agencies and NGOs to ensure comprehensive protection services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Ecology, Social Sciences, International Relations or related field with at least four years relevant experience.
• Master’s degree in a related discipline with at least two years relevant experience (alternative qualification).
• Additional training in case management, protection, migration, AVR, M&E, PSEAH or VBG is an advantage.
