Elixir Backend Engineer – Remote (Latin America)

About the role

FullStackFullStack is looking for an experienced Elixir Backend Engineer to join its talent network and work remotely on project‑based assignments for U.S. clients. You will become an integral part of the client’s engineering team, collaborating daily with designers and engineers to deliver high‑quality backend solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs using Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Build and support backend services that power mobile applications (React Native).
• Integrate third‑party APIs and ensure reliable software connectivity.
• Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Ecto) to implement efficient data models.
• Improve and refactor legacy codebases while enhancing reliability and maintainability.
• Implement automated testing and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Docker and modern tooling.
• Utilize AI‑assisted development tools and remote environments such as GitHub Codespaces.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous delivery processes.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven production experience with Elixir and Phoenix.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Completed a four‑year college degree.
• Experience building backend services for mobile applications.
• Strong background with SQL, PostgreSQL, and Ecto.
• Track record of third‑party API integrations and legacy system modernization.
• Solid automated testing practices.
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD workflows, and remote development environments.
• Experience working on large, complex systems in Agile teams.
